Description
Cruiser bikes are similar to hybrid bikes in that they are similarly designed for everyday riding, feature a very comfortable, upright riding position, and have a large, comfortable seat. Cruisers typically have wide “balloon” tires and handlebars that are even more upright, or in some cases set back, compared to hybrid bikes. Most cruiser models are single-speed or three-speed and have an old-fashioned foot brake. Some cruiser bike manufacturers provide a wide range of colorful models that satisfy the fashion tastes of any bike lover making it one of the most popular types of bikes found in cities today.
Buy a Cruiser bike if: your main trips are riding short distances to work or running errands in the neighborhood, as long as the route is fairly flat.
Do not buy a hybrid/ commuter bike if: you need a bike to fully indulge in high-speed riding on paved roads or to ride mountain bike trails as efficiently as possible.
